About Jyotastro

Jyotastro exists to make classical Vedic astrology, kundli (birth chart) generation, Ashtakoot Guna Milan compatibility matching, and rashi-based daily guidance, accessible without cost or gatekeeping. We built it because too many free kundli tools online either hide accuracy behind a paywall or generate generic, one-size-fits-all text dressed up as astrology. We wanted to do neither.

Real astronomy, not a template

Your kundli is calculated from the actual astronomical positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at your exact date, time, and place of birth, converted to precise coordinates and time offset before any calculation runs. Nothing about your chart, your ascendant, your planetary houses, your nakshatra, is looked up from a table of pre-written possibilities. It is computed fresh for you, the same way a professional Vedic astrologer’s software would do it.

How Match Making actually works

Compatibility scoring uses the classical Ashtakoot Guna Milan system: eight separate checks, Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot, and Nadi, each worth a fixed number of points, adding up to 36 total. These eight checks are centuries-old classical rules taken from traditional reference tables. We did not invent them, tune them, or simplify them for the web; they are applied exactly as classical Vedic astrology defines them, based on each person’s real Moon sign and nakshatra. Manglik status (from Mars’s placement) is checked separately, alongside the main score, matching how matchmaking is traditionally done.

Daily predictions and Lucky Things: what they are, and what they aren’t

Daily predictions are based on your rashi (Moon sign), the classical foundation Vedic astrology uses to represent a person, combined with real planetary transit positions and the traditional rulership of each day of the week (this is literally where weekday names come from: Sunday is the Sun’s day, Monday is the Moon’s day, and so on). This is honest, sign-level guidance, not a personalized reading of your unique birth chart. For that level of detail, generate your full kundli instead.

Lucky Things (color, number, direction, day, and the months/years your luck peaks) is computed from your saved kundli’s Moon sign using classical planet-rashi associations, plus real transit calculations for when the Sun and Jupiter move through your sign. It makes no external calls and shows nothing that isn’t grounded in either your own saved chart or a real, current planetary position.
