Manglik Dosha Remedies: What Classical Texts Actually Describe
October 13, 2026
Once Manglik Dosha is identified in a chart (see what Mangal Dosha actually means), the conversation almost always turns to remedies. Classical tradition describes several, and it's worth understanding what they're actually for before treating any of them as a checklist.
Spiritual and devotional remedies
Mars is traditionally paired with Hanuman in devotional practice, so visiting a Hanuman temple on Tuesdays (Mars's day) and reciting the Hanuman Chalisa is among the most commonly described remedies. Chanting mantras associated with Mars and observing a Tuesday fast are described alongside it, aimed at easing Mars's more aggressive, fast-moving energy rather than opposing it outright.
Ritual remedies
Mangal Shanti Puja, a ritual specifically directed at pacifying Mars, is traditionally performed by a qualified priest or astrologer. Kumbh Vivah, a symbolic marriage to a pot, tree, or idol performed before the real marriage, is a more elaborate classical remedy specifically tied to Manglik matches, intended to direct the dosha's effect toward the symbolic union instead.
Gemstone remedies
Red coral, matching Mars's own classical gemstone (see the Navratna system), is the stone most commonly associated with easing Manglik Dosha. As with any single-gemstone remedy, classical guidance treats this as something to take on only after a proper reading of the full chart, not a generic fix.
Why none of this is one-size-fits-all
How strongly Manglik Dosha is read, and which remedy (if any) is suggested, depends on which house Mars occupies, how strong Mars is elsewhere in the chart, and whether any classical cancellation conditions already apply (see the cancellation section of the Mangal Dosha article). This is exactly the kind of nuance worth taking to a knowledgeable astrologer with your full chart in hand, rather than applying a remedy generically because a single placement showed up.
